Last thursday me and jess filmed our first section of our music video , this was the part were the nutters sing and dance in the studio. To set up the scene me and jess blew up loads of multi coloured ballons and scattered them all around . Also we had stools and chairs which were totally covered in glitter, very funky.
We started the filming with the signing bit, we each took turns in sitting on the glittery chair and sung a thew sentences of the song. The next part we done the fun bit which was just us acting like nutters. We ran around in circles beating eachover with ballons and laughing , it was great. This clip will be cut into pieces and added into slots between the main filming.

Case study for Blink 182
BLINK 182Blink-182 is an American POP/Rock band from San diego, California and was formed in 1992. The band formed as "Blink" with vocalist and bass player Mark hoppus, vocalist and guitarist Tom delonge and former drummer scott raynor. In 1998 during the UAS tour Scott Raynor was replaced by drummer Travis barker.
The band released several self-recorded demo tapes, promoting them with various shows around the San Diego area. There first album was called " Cheshire cat " which was released in 1994.
After Travis barker nearly died in a plane crash blink 182 reunited in Febuary 2009 and thier new album is in the making.

The band gained notoriety for humorous stage shows and eventually was signed to small record label Cargo Music, where they released their first full-length album, Cheshire Cat, in February 1994. Recorded in three days and fueled by both new songs and re-recordings of songs from previous demos, Blink began to gain fame outside of California throughout 1995 and 1996. "M+M's" and "Wasting Time" from Cheshire Cat were released as singles, but both failed to chart. Although the album never made a commercial impact, it is cited by bands and fans as an iconic release.
Shortly after the release of the album, the band was threatened with legal action by an Irish pop band of the same name. To avoid a legal dispute, the band appended "182" to the end of their name.
Thanks to the success of Dude ranch , Blink-182 embarked on multiple worldwide tours during 1997 and 1998. Midway through a U.S. tour in 1998, original drummer Scott Raynor was asked to leave the band. Various conflicting reasons have circulated the Internet for years, a largely popular explanation is that Raynor had a serious drinking problem and was asked to leave. When he agreed to abstaining from alcohol, bassist Mark Hoppus and guitarist Tom DeLonge doubted his sincerity and he was fired from the band through a telephone call. In a 2004 interview, Hoppus described the touring for Dude ranch as "rough", with DeLonge adding "That was the worst tour ever. At that time, our drummer had a drinking problem. One show he dropped his sticks 10 times. It was so disturbing to see someone ruining himself."
This is why they had to hire a new drummer , this being Travis barker.(on the left)Blink 182's musical style has been described by various sources as "pop punk", "punk rock","punk revival" and "skate punk". When playing live, the band typically plays their songs at a faster tempo and often replaces certain lyrics with toilet humor and various gags. Blink-182 are known for their simple melodies, teen angst and occasional lyrical toilet humor. They are often targeting subjects such as love and growing up, these being fused into multiple hit singles such as "Dammit" and "What's My Age Again?". Before the release of their experimental and different untitled fifth album, darker songs by the band include singles "Adam's Song" and "Stay Together for the Kids". Bill Lamb of About.com described their music as being "marked by a radio-friendly sheen, but it still maintains much of the speed and attitude of classic punk rock".
Bands such Paramore, Relient K, Panic! at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, Motion City Soundtrack, New Found Glory, We the Kings, Good Charlotte, Hey Monday, The Cab, Forever the Sickest Kids, Cute is What We Aim For and Yellowcard all say that Blink 182 have been a major influence on thier own bands. There style and sound have started a tottally new style of music and will always be known for there style.

In 2000 the band Blink 182 won the award of being the best new act and in the same year won the award for best Group video whic was "All the small things".Also in 2000 they won the award for Choice group award.
The following year they won award for being the best Rock act of 2001. the same year they also won Favorite band and also the best rock group again.
In 2002 they won the award Favorite band for thier video "First date".
In 2004 they won thier last award which was for the Choice love song award , they won this award with the hit single "I miss you".

Analysing " The rock show - Blink 182"
The music video starts of with a small paragraph of writing. Writen in white writing on a black background the insure it will catch your attention. The writing tells us that on may the 2nd +3rd Blink 182 were given money by a production company to make thier music video, this is what they did with the money . This tells us straight away that this will be a jokey video as they have mis-spent all of the producers money. The forst shot is of the blink 182 van driving around the corner and parking up very fast and dangerously. You can tell its the bands van because of the band logo on the side of the van. They get and approach the camera. The main singer talks to the camera telling us how he is going to cash the check that the producer has given them and how they are going to have fun with the money. The band is dressed in all black tacky shirts with necklaces and hats on , they look like thay are just out with friends , not going to cash a huge check to make a music video for the producer.
The music starts of with the band playing there instruments in a very small and narrow room , the room is covered in a silver paint so it looks very shiney and new. The band is jumping around having fun. The whole of this small scene is filmed with a fish eye camera wich limits our view of the band. The scene after that is the guitarist of the band getting out the van and giving random constructor workers dollar bills, they look in disbelief and happiness as they he gets back in the van and drives away very fast . The next shot is of the lead singer just throwing money out of the window showing that money is clearly no obstacle in making this music video. The next scene is of the drummer sitting in what looks like a very expensive chair in the back of thier van counting a large amout of money. The next thew scenes are of the band members running around handing out dollar bills to random people stuck in traffic , they also are sticking dollar bolls in peoples window wippers. After that it cuts back to the small studio they wer in at the beggining except this time the guitarist is dancing like a nutter, i like this because it shows that the music video wasnt really planned iy was just improvosed.
The next scene is back to the three band members on foot giving out money to random shoppers, some are smilling and willingly taking the money and some are refusing to take it without even a smile on thier face. i like that they put that scene in because it shows that there not all actors, they actually went around randomly and some people thought that it was just a big joke. The next scene is my favorite because it would be actually amazing if it happened, it everyones biggest dream! They make it rain money . They are sitting on the roof of a shop with boxes of money and they just throw it down onto the street to seee the reaction of random people walking past. The shoppers rush in excitment as the money floats down and people begin to snatch and grab what they can. i think they were brave to film this part because there was no way on telling what some people may have done for that amount of money. Also i think the fact that they are doing all of this on top a adult books and videos shop is funny because places like that are considered dirty and wrong to go to yet people are running and pushing themselves forward in the houndreds.
The next scene is of the band playing in a very large venue, which to me looks like a university. They are playing in fron of a huge crowd of jumping fans. In this scene they are not jumping around as much , they are alot calmer and wearing glasses. I think they may be taking the mick out of other boy bands. The next scene is of them pulling up outside an alley way and they get out and try to lure a homeless man into thier truck with dollar bills, he eventually gives in to temptation and gets in. The ban looks worried and confused as to why they put a homeless man into the back of thier van but thier plan comes clear in the next scene. They take the bum into a fancy looking place and get a complete makeover, new suit new haircut and teeth cleaned. I cannot think of a reason why they did this , i think it is just because its funny and being random and spontanious is what this film is about. Whilst the bum is geting the makeover the band members give the two ladies the famour blink 182 haircut which is bassically all of the top of your hair shaven off and the back and sides are left as they are. This haircut is a trademark of Blink 182 and is in a thew more of thier videos.
The band continues to take the bum out for the day so for a laugh they take him to a strip club , as he looks like he is having the time of his life the band members are talking to the strippers and asking them to do somthink for them, after seeing the money they say yes and follow them to the van. when they get to were they want they get out and start cleaning a car and mowing a random mans lawn. This is a big surprise to the fat man. Like all the other things they have done in this music video this was not planned and is all random.
The next scene is of the band members piking out a car at the used car show. After dumping a big pile of dollar bills onto an employes lap they quikly pick thier car and drive away. They drive to a electric shop and start piking out televisions. After piking the televion they want they help the man take it off the top shelf. Shortly after one of the band members runs up and starts destroying it with a baseball bat. The man looks confused and annoyed untill the band give him a pile of cash.
After that scene is a nother great scene were the band members go to a tropical bird shop and buy ywo crates of doves, the symbol of peace and love. They then set the birds free and they pretend to cry and hug eachover. I like this scene because it felt like they were taking the mick out of how people get so emotional over freedom and love. The next scene is another part that feels like it was just improvised , not planned. The drive to a skatepark and loads of kids run up as the band members are giving away free shirts and signed skatebords. They ride away whilst the kids are doing trick with board and still smilling because they just me the band.The next shot is off one of he band members spitting in the camera as if to say these are my cameras now. The next scene is of the band members paying two boys to try and jump thier van with the skateboards, and they do . The reason i like this scene is because like all the rest of the film it feels so improvised and random. After that is just a thew scenes of them destroying thier instruments and driving around fast and dangerously , crashing into cones and going up the curb. Acting tlike they dont care about the consiquences.
They next scene is one of the band members paying a bunch of constuction workers . it then cuts to a scene were the construction workers are piking up one of the cars they bought with the money . the crane pulls it vey high in the air untill they finally let go of it. I like this scene because it just shows what money can buy.
The last scene is of a plane flying over the city dragging a sign sayin " take of your pants and jacket " which is the name of the album.
The reason i chose this video to analyse was because of the comical sie to it, they took a producers money and miss used it. They were ment to make a music video but because they filmed what they done with the money insted of making a planned video it turned out better thatn what they could have probably made instead. The other reason is because this is the type of band i would like ours to look like and be like .

Me and jess went up to bexleyheath today to buy some props for our music video. we went to poundland and bout some table party poppers which has a very loud bang and blows out alot of confetti, this will be good for the studio part of our filming. The other things we bought were ballons , and lots of them. All of the ballons that we bought were all colour cordinated with the colours that the characters wear. We also bough masks for the nutters to wear, all animals. i am the fox, nick is the cat, jamie is the pig and tommy is the tiger. The last thing we bought were massive straws , we bought these to try and add a jokey scene in but i dont think we can fit it all in . all the straws are also colour cordinated with the colours of the characters.
We chose the Tonic genre because we thought we could do alot with that genre. Like Blink 182 and fall out boy all of thier videos are all funny and never boring. we wanted to try and make a music video that did take the mic out of all the others.

Analysing "whats my age again - Blink 128"
The music video starts of with the three band members running down the highstreet totally naked. as the the camera starts to go back to show the whole picture of the band members it is forced to blur out the members private parts which tells us straight away that this musiv video is going to be funny and very silly. The next thew scenes are of the band still running around the highstreet but now they are pushing people out f the way and pulling peoples bags of shopping all over the floor, they are laughing and smiling which makes it look like a stupid video that a the friends are making as a laugh, that gives this video a edge that not many other music videos have. The continue running through the highstreet until they come across a geeky looking characetr dressed up ina bannana costume giving out free bannanas. they run past him taking the bannanas and throwing them at him. This is a little link into a film called american pie: the bok of love.
The next scene is of the full band playing in pure white room which symbolises purity and kindness, this is followed by the band playing with multi coulured instruments and totally naked. This could be symbolising good and evil or nice and the naughty. the thing i like the best in this scene is that they still have the amps for the electric guitars, and its sitting all alone in the back with a white background. They continue running through the highstreet past a outside restaraunt. they sprint passed a couple on a table and pushes a waitor who then spills water over the couple, This also makes it look like a little video that friends made together for a laugh. After that they run past a car that is about to park in a valley parking. they distract the driver and she crashes into the valley sign. already i can tell that this music video is about maturity and not knowing thier own age, because they are in thier thirtys and they are running around like a bunch of drunk 18 year olds.
The next scen is of them still running but this time there in a park , they run past a basketball pitch and steal some boys ball and one of them pull off an amazing trick shot with it making them look amazing. This scene i think has taking the idea from the film "goodbye charlie bright" where the three boys run naked through a park and steal the boys football, they chase them throughout the entire opening sequence of the film. After that they run passed a young couple who are kissing on a blanket , they slep them both on the haed whilst running pat. they boy look confused wheras the girl looks happy asif she knew who they were.
The next scene which is my favorite is where they run past an old lady who is watering flowers outside her shop with a hose . After they run past she follows them with her head and as she turns so does her hand with the hose which catches all the people sittting on the bus stop. i like this scene because it looks so staged, if you look closely you can see the people jump up in fright before the water even hits them. I dont know whether this was dileberate but i think it makes it look alot better.
After that they are running down the street and they run past a gawjuss looking nurse. She has got her top undone revealing her red bra, this catches the attention . They run along side her smiling and it also looks like they are trying to chat her up even though ypu cant hear it. She dosent even aknoledge them as she just keeps on walking without even looking at them. After realising she wasnt gunna budge i think they jus give up and continue with there naked run around town. The next scene is of a girl who is looking at somthink on the floor with a magnifiyers glass, she then notices the band running towards them and looks at them throught the magnyfiyers glass. They appear upside down but they are still blurred out so that it dosent actually reveal anythink dirty. The little girls eyes widden in shock as the three naked me run past her. They then run past a man mowing his lawn alongside his two dogs. He stops in disbelief as they run past , this again makes it look like this is somthing from "balls of steel" where they just play random prank on random people.
The next scene is where they run past some builders working on the street. There are three well placed bollards which cover up the three band members privates. i like this bit because it looks very staged compared to the other parts of the music video which look like there just random shinanagans. The next scene is of an old man watching a television on a very old style t.v. The show is o bunch of young people dancing to the blink 182 song. the show is interupted by the naked band members doing cart wheels and dancing around in the centere of the other dancers.They they begin to dance with the other dancers. The man looks confused by what has come on the tv so he smacks it and changes the channel. The rest of the scene is the channel changing to different famous american shows like the news, The Kayla5 Show and the last word.each of these shows have the same three band members walking casually through the set tottally naked. the presenters of the shows watch in amazment as they walk through. I think they done this scene to show thier popularity with the world.

Today we went up london to film our first bit of our music video. As soon as we arrived at trafalger square we had a brand new idea, we wanted to use the four telephone boxes we found and make a smal cut scene were the buisness men walk in and the four nutters walk out. so we done that and then continued to go on with what we wanted, we started by doing the dance scene were we stood at the top of the monument in the square and done a goofey dance all in sync. Afetr that we went for another bit of free style filming to see if we could film somthink which was better than our original plan. we found a little monuter with lights on the bottom. we had the buisness me walk past it in single file and then followed by the nutters. it looked good. the last bit we filmed was when it got dark we found four lightsnext to eachover. Each of the nutters stood had thier own light. Jess ( the camera man ) run around and got little shots of us doing a dance . Unfortuantly when we got back to school the next day to watch the tape we found out that we were given a broken tape so we now have to tape all the rest and the stuff we already done again.

Location
For filming outside we are going to film in trafalger square. Most our filming will be outside. We have the filming in the trafalger square and on the monument that is in the middle of it. We have filming to be done in the park just down the road from the square. We have a thew ideas to be done in the park which will take up most of the video.
For one of the scenes we will be filming inside a cafe, we will need to ask the manager whether it would be ok to film in there. Jess thinks we should do this scen locally to us so that we will not go all the way up there to get disapointed, and there is loads of different cafes in welling and bexleyheath.
Some of the of the music video will be filmed on public transport. We need to fisrst film the scene were all eight people are on the train , this is a crucial scene in our music video even though it is a very short scene. We had another idea were we might be filming ona bus but we dont know if we are going to be doing that.

The first main time he used editing and special effects was in 99 ways to death by mega death, in this video he uses green screen , split scrren and screen in screen.
The last music videos he has directed recently is insatiable by naidine coyle and what do you got ? by bon jovi.
Rough trade in the 1980's
In 1980's rough trade signed on and distributed Joey Parratt's first band the flying brix, it became independant from the shop in 1982. In 1987, Jeannette Lee joined Rough Trade and would go on to co-develop the Rough Trade record label as we know it today.

Because we are using the song Baggy trousers by The madness we wanted to make a music video which was a little bit mad and exciting. The song is about children being naughty in school, breaking all the rules and then comparing it to the life as an adult. we thought it would be a good idea if we had two groups (one mature and one childish ) having a normal day up london , waking up , geting ready and leaving , traveling, Going to work , lunch/cafe, traveling back , and going home. Throughout the day we wanted to use split screen to show just how different thay are even though they are doing the same thing.

For these for men we were thinking of making them wear suits to show maturity and to make it obvious they were the older middle aged version of the other group. Also we were thinking to make them carry briefcases to make it look like they were going to work. Smart shoes and a smart coat . If the weather is sunny and warm maybe we could give them all a pear of raybans aviators because they look like buisnessmen glasses. There hair will be smartly styled so that they look like up tight working men.

For the younger kids we wanted them to wear very load colourfull clothing. Maybe funny bright hats if the weather requires it. Jess had the great idea of maybe making them wear bright shirts with funny bow ties, maybe even a waitcoat. oddly coloured trousers followed by different coloured shoes maybe , and odd shoe laces , really make them look all young and stupid. We wanted them to wear a backpasck, we were going to make this dirty and riped up so it is the opposite to the other group

Digi Pack Analysis
Firstly the names of the songs and the videos have been writen in a vey small font but is easy to see because of the colour, the writing is white and the background is a very dark colour. The media has been seperated into three different catagories , CD 1, CD2 and The short films. The background is a very dark shade of brown. it seperates in the middle , on the left it is a very light shade of brown but on the right is a close to black shade of brown, this is good because it makes the writing much easier to see. Although the idea of this CD is to intertain the feel of the colour is very dark and cold with only a thew light colours, this being the red on his leather jacket which is a very masculine colour, this implies that the CD is very masculine and in control. The iconic picture of micheal jackson is on the left of this CD back and is there to draw your attention. They used a vey old picture of Micheal , back when he was just a amazing singer and there was no publicity problems and before he also changed his skin colour. He looks very youthfull in this picture , with his fashionable haircut and what looks like make-up on ( he put alot of efort on posing in this picture). Also i noticed the 15 certificate on this CD , this tells me that there is a age limit which gives them a target audience of people over the age of 15. The gold borders on each side which say it is the 25th Aniversary of the artist symbolises that this CD is special , treasure like. At the bottom it has the long list of companies who have sponsered this CD, making it look very popular and looking like a great soundtrack.
The inside of the CD has two sides, on the left there is a small booklet with a picture of micheal dressed up like he did in his hit music video 'Thriller'. In this picture he is wearing a Red leather jacket which is a very masculing colour, it is also a colour which symbolises being hot or sexy.He is also holding a women under his arm which is also a masculine thing to do because it shows that he is control. The women's face has been hidden by Micheals arm which could symbolise that women are not good enough, it could symbolise sexcism.
The picture on the left compared to the picture on the right is very different but i think it symbolises good and bad or evil and heavinly. the picture on the left is very dark and it symbolises satan with the colour red and black and with his contacts in ( very satanic or devily). The picture on the right although is very dark , Micheal sits in the middle . glowing. he looks very angel like with his pure white suit which would symbolises purity and goodness. Another symbol of purity and kindness is what Micheal is holding , he is holding a baby tiger , this i think would draw in women. This also symbolises his love for animals and shows his sensitive side, it also tells us about his mini zoo in house near his resort neverland. In both pictures Micheal is making eye contact with the camera , this shows him geting in touch with the audience. For the remake of the CD they have used all the old picture what were used on the old cover. Because this CD is an anniversary of Micheals main album it only has pictures of Micheal , this keeps the attention him.
This is the fron cover to Micheals anniversary CD, the first thing i see is the big glowing picture of Micheal in the middle of the cover. He is wearing a pure white suit with his blazer open showing a black shirt underneath. The white suit is symbolising purity and goodness where the black shirt underneatrh might mean his dark side underneath his purity. I think this is a good picture for the front cover because of its editing , i am possitive it has been fixed , it gives Micheal a really good image. His skin is very clear and his hair is close to perfect. It really makes it loo like Micheal takes care of himself. He is looking directly into the camera which would tell us that he is in touch with the audience and therfore connects to them. The way he is possitioed is lying down , this shows he is relaxed and therfore relaxes you , and gives you a hint into the genre of his music.There is a light behind him which makes it look like Micheal is glowing , very saint like.
The cover is borderd with a gold border, this makes the cover look very royal, this makes the audiece also feel like royalty. Over the top of the photograph of Micheal is a Aughtograph by Micheal himself, this makes the CD cover look very special and personal. This will make the buyer feel like the copy they pick up is personalised.
The writing on the side of the CD cover says that it was the worlds biggest selling album of all time , this tells the buyer that it is a must buy. This is writen is a white font , this makes it very bold because of the pure black background. It also says that it is the 25th anniversary in gold lettering , once again making it look very royal and expensive.

Rough trade 1970's
Rough trade was created in 1978 by a man called Geoff travis. Geoff travis was traveling in north America and collected a huge range of recored on the way , After collecting all of these records he shipped them back to the UK which then became the basis of the rough trade shop. At the time the most populer genre of music was punk rock and reggae. When the rough trade opened there main aim was'nt money it was just music , they treated all thier artist equally and gave all the independant artists a chance which was a big difference compared to all the other major music companys.
The genre punk rock was making a big statement at the time , it was somthing new and different which was exactly what rough trade gave them. Anothe main record company at the time was virgin records who only really signed the most popular artists which was a big difference compared to rough trade records.
Another way in which rough trade expanded was on the records they sold they printed on the cardboard sleeve how to make your own record which revolutionised the D.I.Y music stage. Rough trade sold the blank records budding artists needed to make thier own records so they can get started with the music industry.

21st June media lesson
This lesson was ment to be used to help the groups film there music videos but it was cancelled because they hould not get hold of any cameras or equipment so we spent the lesson getting ready and developing our story boards.

The group of year sevens were keen on developing there story and made alot of improvements.

The group of girls Tried with there story boards but still are not sure about how or where to film it.

14th June media lesson
For the start of my A2 course we have been asked to help out a year seven and a year eight group out with there music videos, this will help us out with techniques for making our own music video.
Year Sevens:
For the year sevens we had a group of boys who made a short drum and bass song which only lasted thirty seconds. There idea was to have a dj driving his car and listning to a new song on the radio and likes it. then it continues show how they have risin to fame. In this lesson i learnt how to edit and make songs on the computer.I also developed my knoledge of making storyboards.

For the year eights we had a group of girls who were very passionate about not working at all. They had made a great song and had a good idea of what the music video was going to look like but when it came to actually doing anythink , they sat there and did there makeup!

Reflecting on As
In the last year i learnt alot of new skill like editing , filming and essay writing. The last year i made a short opening sequence and a continuety piece which i think ended up very well edited and presented. I think i should have used my time more wisely and if i did the films would have had alot more quality. I think that the exams went well and i feel that i will get my desired grade.I hope that the next year will be much more succesfull but with my new skills in the media i think my blog , coursework and exams will be a greater quality.
